Lacrosse Rips Through Competition

It’s been an exciting season for the Maroons Lacrosse teams, full of impressive displays of teamwork and riveting games. For Men’s Lacrosse, one of their more recent games was against Randolph-Macon on March 22nd, held right here in Roanoke College. The Yellow Jackets were a formidable foe who kept Roanoke on our toes throughout the first half, but in the second they began to fall apart as the Maroons continued to rack up points with an impressive consistency. In the end, Noke won 15-8, taking home another ODAC win for the season. They had another match against Centre College on March 26th held also in Roanoke, and bagged another win with a close 15-12 score. Unfortunately, soon after the Maroons lost against Amherst College, but on April 2nd the Men’s Lacrosse team had an impressive match against Shenandoah University held in Noke once again. It was a whopping 23-4 win for the Maroons!

The Women’s Lacrosse team has especially been on fire, paired against Bridgewater College on March 22nd by Cregger (lots of home matches as of late). It was a swift win for the Maroons ending with a 16-4 final score, following up with a completely dominating win against Ferrum College 22-1. The Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon returned once more, this time competing with our Women’s Lacrosse. On March 29th taking place in Ashland, Virginia, it was full of fury and vigor. Star players senior Grace Koutouzis and sophomore Maddie McDonald displayed incredible skill, with Koutouzis scoring a new career high of eleven points while McDonald got her own career high of six. The team eventually won against the Yellow Jackets once more, carrying home a 20-7 winning score. On top of their win against Guilford College soon after, they’re currently holding an amazing four win-streak! Go Maroons!
