In my unique capacity as both the editor-in-chief of the
Brackety-Ack and an Outdoor Adventures specialist, I get
the pleasure of writing a full article for this first publication
highlighting some of the trips running this semester.
Coming up in September we have the Whitewater
Kayaking trip (Sep 14), a day hike to The Great Channels
(Sep 15), Backpacking (Sep 21), Flourish Hike (Sep 21)
and a Paint Night clinic (Sep 25). Aside from all of those
wonderful trips, we are running White Water Rafting, the
Catawba Challenge, Caving, and an exciting fall break trip.
Both of the white water trips are crazy fun, and you pay
less for them than you would if you wanted to do them
on your own. You also get to know you’re safe with our
guides and of course transportation and food are covered
with the cost of the trip. The fall break trip will consist of
a tour of Virginia’s beloved parks. Participants will explore
parks across the state, participating in various outdoors
activities, along with two of our Outdoor Adventure
guides. Shenandoah National park and Natural Bridge will
be features of this trip.
If I could recommend doing anything as a student here,
it would be to do at least one Outdoor Adventures trip. We
live in such a wonderful part of the country for outdoor
recreation and I think we should take full advantage of
it. I personally am very fond of our climbing trips (many
of which I lead) and the Catawba Challenge (which I
also lead). Both of these allow us to really explore the
region and the amazing outdoor recreation it has to offer.
They also both provide multiple opportunities for a fun
photoshoot. I hope to see some of y’all on our trips this
semester!
