Dorm Door Decorations

Happy Halloween! With this holiday just days away, it might seem as though it’s too late to decorate, but not to worry! If you feel like getting spooky last minute, here are a few easy ways to bring some fun to your dorm room door.
The first way, while maybe not the most budget friendly, is to pay a visit to your local Halloween store! Spirit Halloween next to the Target in Roanoke has a wide variety of fun Halloween decorations, including signs and wreaths which can easily be hung on your door for a bit of extra fun! There are a lot of fun decorations there, including ones themed around popular Halloween movies like Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice, so there’s something for everyone! If you have some extra cash to spend on decorating your door, then this is the place for you! I’ve already seen some adorable signs on doors around campus.
Of course, many of us don’t really want to break the bank to decorate this close to Halloween, in which case it’s also super easy to decorate using things you might already have around your dorm. For example, take any piece of loose white paper you might have lying around, and cut it into a ghost shape. Use a marker to draw eyes and a mouth, and already you have a super cute paper ghost to hang up! If by chance you happen to have colored paper, this could be applied to make pumpkins, witches, or any other spooky paper friends to hang up! Paper crafting is a great and easy way to make fun decorations without breaking the bank, and you’ll get a fun craft out of it!
Another fun way to decorate is to invest in a whiteboard for your door. They can get a little pricey, but there are cheap ones out there, and the fun of a whiteboard is that it can be easily erased, meaning that you could change up your drawing for the season! Don’t be afraid of drawing poorly, as the fun comes from doing the actual drawing, not the result. As you can see, I drew a cute Hello Kitty skeleton as well as some ghosts on my whiteboard for the season! Be creative with your drawings, and let your personality show.
Even at the last minute, it’s super easy to make your door spooky for the upcoming holiday! Stay safe this weekend and have a Happy Halloween!
