April 22-24 marks the return of Roanoke College’s Alumni Weekend. This Alumni Weekend will be President Maxey’s last and will include many opportunities to say farewell to the president and thank him for all the work he’s done for the College. This weekend will be a celebration of the 180th anniversary of Roanoke College, with a multitude of events scattered throughout the weekend for both current students and alumni to take part in.
The weekend begins on Friday, April 22 and will involve the return of Friday on the Quad. The Office of Admissions will be providing campus tours and a science center showcase for visiting alumni to provide information about the upcoming construction of the science center. Later that night, the Office for Multicultural Affairs will be hosting the Heritage Ball and there will be an exciting campus-wide fireworks show.
On Saturday, April 23 the festivities kick off brunch events as well as fraternity and sorority gatherings. Later in the day there will be various reunion celebrations including departmental gatherings for alumni from various departments across campus. On Elizabeth Campus, Sigma Chi will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of their chapter, as well as other festivities for students and alumni alike. There will also be various alumni and ODAC sporting events taking place on campus throughout the Saturday.
Several alumni classes will be having reunions during the weekend. To find out if your class is having a reunion, please visit the Roanoke College website and register on the Alumni Weekend page. Finally, the finale party will be hosted by the class of 1972 along with The Rhythm Shop band.
The celebrations will wrap-up on Sunday with brunch and various final activities. We all at Roanoke College look forward to welcoming back all prior graduates, for this very special 180th alumni weekend celebration!
