Wrapping up the Spring Semester

As the spring semester is slowly wrapping up, students are heavily anticipating the beginning of summer and excitement in the classroom is subsiding. It is always best to end the semester with the same intentions as when it began. Continuing to manage your time well and trying to stay organized is pertinent at the end of the semester. Heavily regarded assignments like final papers and group projects are also on the horizon. Don’t forget to start working on these now and try not to procrastinate. Staying on top of work and remaining in good standing with professors is important for academic success and overall success at Roanoke.
Not only is it important to maintain good grades and finish in good standing with professors, but students are also likely to be apprehensive about leaving friends that they have at Roanoke. The time period between the end of the spring semester and the beginning of the fall semester can be difficult when you live far away from friends from school or significant others. Keeping in contact with friends through social media, texting and calling is essential to keeping those relationships strong.
As for senior students who are graduating, this time at the end of the semester may be very stressful for new reasons. They may feel lost knowing that they will not be returning to campus in the fall like they have in years past. The transition into a new future can be exciting, but also very scary, especially for those who do not have jobs lined up right out of college. Fear of the unknown is a normal anxiety, but one that seniors have not dealt with since beginning their freshman year at college. Soak up the time that you have left at Roanoke and relish in the comfort of our campus, faculty and peers. Take advantage of the landscape that surrounds Roanoke and try things in the local area that you’ve never tried before! The close of the semester means more than just wrapping up exams, it’s about saying goodbye too.
Make memories, say thank you, and lend a helping hand when you can. Appreciate what Roanoke gives to its students and take advantage of your time here. Make the most of the remainder of this semester!
