RC Winter Break Recap

Written by Ian Gillen

Men’s Basketball:

The Men’s Basketball team turned the corner into the new year without skipping a beat!  The team has only three losses since the start of December, and has shown no sign of slowing down in their 22 point win over Randolph last night. The team’s good stretch has ranked them fourth in the conference with a conference record of 7-3. The men have six more conference games to play with the next one taking place at Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, January 26.

Women’s Basketball:

The Lady Maroons started 2019 with a couple of tough losses, but they bounced back to rattle off five straight wins heading into this weekend.  The team went undefeated during December, so the two losses did not set them back much. A big win took place last night as the ladies took on Hollins 64-38. The Lady Maroons are currently in the top five, but hope to ride their hot streak into a top position of the ODAC standings.First, the women will be facing Lynchburg on Saturday, January 26 at Lynchburg University.

Swimming:

After a first semester that could not slow them down, our swim teams hit rough waters on the road at Washington and Lee this past weekend.  Even in the defeat, new Roanoke College records continue to be set by each team. The teams will get back in the water this weekend as they travel to Hampden Sydney.

Track and Field:

Our Men’s and Women’s track and field teams competed this past weekend at the Keydet Invitational in Lexington, Virginia. They competed amongst top Division 1 teams yet both the men and women had a few top placers. The teams will be hosting the Finn Pincus Invitational this Friday and Saturday in the Cregger Center, so come out and support.
