WRKE VS. Brackety-Ack

One of Roanoke College’s proudest accomplishments is the WRKE radio station. The WRKE organization is comprised of 75 students across campus who collectively produce 43 radio shows of all varying topics.

At any given point, an estimated 1,000 people could be tuned into WRKE, with listeners dispersed throughout 48 states.

Students and faculty alike can become a part of the WRKE organization in various ways. Aside from radio shows, WRKE also presents multiple events throughout each semester that welcomes participants of all status. Competitive games, like the upcoming Family Feud, feature different teams of students and are aired live. One-two hour productions of shows featuring an array of actors and voices are premiered every couple of months. Additionally, coverage of sporting and political events is also reported by the station.

Senior Elijah Wilhelm has been the station’s Program Director for two years and claims that it has helped shape his career path. Sophomore Zach Dalton reflects highly of his involvement with the station, declaring it the best decision of his freshman year.
