As of last Friday, it is officially Springtime! Even though pollen allergies can be a huge bummer, I believe that, overall, the changing of seasons from the dreariness of the colder months is a lovely thing!
My personal favorite thing about Spring is that all the flowers are blooming. I think all the trees and plants are absolutely beautiful, with all the colors and textures creating an idyllic scene as I stroll across Roanoke College’s campus!
Evelyn Pernsteiner, Class of 2029, agreed with me on that. She told me that her favorite part of Spring is gardening. She then showed me several pictures of beautiful flowers. It turns out that she actually grew them from seeds herself!
Alex Hall, also from the Class of 2029, mentioned plant regrowth too, but he also told me he’s very happy that it is “bright out for longer.” With Daylight Savings time having gone into effect recently, combined with the lengthening daylight windows, it absolutely does feel like our gorgeous Spring afternoons are only getting longer!
Danielle Baran, Class of 2028, seemed particularly excited about the weather, emphasizing that she believes it is “not too hot or too cold” and sharing her delight about “perfect weather” for taking walks around campus which, as I mentioned earlier, I completely agree with.
Luckily, Roanoke College is especially beautiful when all the flowers and trees are in full bloom, making the commute between classes and Commons more enjoyable for those who appreciate natural beauty. Regardless of what your favorite part of Spring is, I hope you get to enjoy the season fully as we begin to wrap up the semester!
