The holiday season is known for some pretty distinct tastes and smells. Many people have very divided opinions about which they like – and dislike – as well as which of these count as “holiday flavors” at all. As the author of the article and thus the ultimate decision maker for what counts to me as “holiday” enough, I wanted to take the opportunity to present to you my favorite three holiday flavors!
In third place is gingerbread. I find most gingerbread cookies themselves to be a bit too strongly flavored for me. The smell, however? Absolutely incredible! I love the cinnamon and spices mixing with sweeter notes.
Second place goes to hot chocolate and marshmallows. This drink is almost exclusively made during the holidays in my house, so it’s pretty special to me in that way. A big mug of hot chocolate after a day playing out in the December snow is hard to beat.
But something does beat that for me – peppermint! Candy canes are everywhere during the holiday season, and I could not be more delighted. I love the burst of fresh mint in my mouth, especially when paired with smooth chocolate. There’s a reason why I like peppermint mochas so much!
Whatever your holiday flavor preferences may be, I hope you all get the chance to indulge in your favorite treats this season!
