An Ode to Halloween

It’s that time of year again: the air is crisp, the sun sets earlier with each passing day, and beautiful leaves flutter to the ground in the refreshing cold breeze. This means it’s also time for my favorite holiday – Halloween!

There are tons of positive aspects to Halloween for me. The weather is cool but not ridiculously cold (autumn is my favorite season because of the weather). There is, of course, a lot of purple – my favorite color – around, along with other great colors like black, orange, and occasionally green. Halloween brings a lot of sweet treats too, which is great news for a candy lover like me!

For me, though, the costume aspect is my absolute favorite part of the holiday. It’s always fun for me to figure out what I want my costume to be and how I can execute it – I am a big fan of thrifting pieces and using things I already have to create something new! It’s especially fun if you have a matching theme with your friends or other loved ones. I matched with my family a few times growing up, and this will be my second year in a row coordinating costumes with my friends! My final reason for the costumes being my favorite part of Halloween is that for one night (or weekend, depending on when the holiday falls), you can be whatever you want without judgment, which is very freeing for me.

Halloween falls on a Friday this year, so that means Halloweekend will fall on the days immediately after. I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend, and I look forward to seeing everyone’s cool costumes!
