With one week more to reach Halloween, people are starting to prepare their costumes for the big day. That is, unless you procrastinate and STILL don’t know what you want to be, in which case I recommend checking out the last-minute costume ideas article on the Brackety-Ack website. Besides what to dress up as, another important question to ask yourself is: where should I get my costume from? In this article, I will share some pros and cons of a couple of options!
First, there’s Spirit Halloween, the classic costume store that seems to rise from the dead in the cemetery of bankrupt businesses every fall. Although a bit on the pricier side, Spirit Halloween offers a huge variety of décor, special effects makeup, spooky accessories, and pre-packed costume sets of your favorite characters and monsters! For some quick shopping, I recommend going there. I also recommend spending the majority of your time there getting startled by the Halloween animatronics!
If you have more time on your hands and less money, a great idea would be to find different pieces of clothing in thrift stores and let your creativity flow! Making your own costume can be as simple as finding articles of clothing that resemble the style of a character you like. But, if you are craftier or are willing to wing it, you can upcycle some of them to build your own, unique, one-of-a-kind costume. One example is sewing colorful patches to a plain shirt to improvise a clown shirt. The more colorful the better!
Whatever you decide to do, remember that you are never too old to dress up for Halloween. Can’t wait to see your costumes!
