Campus Connections

Here at Roanoke College, the spring semester can get pretty intense! Schoolwork can seem to pile up right around now, so many students want as much leisure time as they can get. Thankfully, RC hosts a ton of cool events at this time of year too, making the perfect places to relax and have fun with your friends!

There have been a few noteworthy events that happened in the last month or so. The Mardi Gras celebration, held in early March in the Colket Center, was a great way to experience a little bit of diverse culture while enjoying some great food and fun activities. Maroon Health and Wellness hosted a cool Wellness Fair event in the Cregger Field House (the indoor track, if you’re like me and can’t remember the names of buildings haha!) on March 18th! There were several booths from various local organizations that promoted some kind of health or wellness. My friends and I ended up with some nice merch like a band-aid dispenser and even a rubik’s cube keychain! Just a few days later, Outdoor Adventures hosted Camp on Campus on the night of Friday, March 21st. After completing fun activities like rope-climbing and shirt tie-dye, participants watched Monty Python outdoors before spending the night in tents on the back quad. Other cool events happen weekly, such as Theologies on Tap (ToT) at Mac N’ Bob’s on Mondays at 9 pm, and Nerf Club in Bast Gym on Saturdays at 9 pm!

A couple events are coming up that I for one am pretty excited for. A Friday on the Quad (FOTQ) will be taking place THIS evening! The BBQ-esque menu sounds amazing, and there’s sure to be good music and a fun vibe! Next weekend, the 12th and 13th of April, Outdoor Adventures will be hosting an outdoor climbing trip and a kayak trip. See your RC email for more details. Alpha Phi Omega (APO) and the Red Cross will also be busy on the 11th running a blood drive in the multipurpose room of Shenandoah Hall!

If you see me at any of these upcoming events – or any I didn’t name here – please don’t hesitate to say hello!
