What’s Super about Being a Super Senior?

by Chamberlain Zulauf

I’ve written some bangers while I’ve been on staff, I know, and I’m glad to be returning through December of my fifth year. There have definitely been a few people surprised to see me on campus but thankfully they’ve all been glad for it.

There’s one big ‘fons et origo’ of my Golden Year: COVID.

I felt a little robbed of my junior year during ‘Nokes online class spell when I was still on campus, with friends around, but it just didn’t feel like college. So, I’m trading coming back in May just to have President Shushok hand me my diploma for at least one semester of my college experience back.

Life as a super senior is sweet so far! I’m part-timing two classes, one is Policy which will get rough… but the other is Badminton. The rest of my time I’m at practice or my dorm.

It’s nice to have a few big things to focus on rather than a million little ones. For me, the biggest pro to coming back for an extra semester is the eligibility I was compensated with for losing my seasons from 2019-20.

The theme for this year, I guess, would be a last hurrah. Or better yet: the final stretch.

I finished my Creative Writing major in the spring and that outdoor season definitely left me hungry. I’m looking forward to doing it for Rooney one last time!
