The BEST Gym Music

by Marisa Seager

While it’s pretty common that most people who go to the gym walk in with or already wearing earbuds/headphones, let’s settle this right here right now. What is the best gym music you might ask? Well rock music of course.

Although I’ve only been going to the gym consistently for a while now, I do know that when I go, I like to feel motivated and sometimes even a little angry. Some of my best sessions have been on days where I’ve been stressed or generally upset.

For instance, on certain days of the week I go after a certain class as it happens to be my most stressful of the semester. That tactic combined with the right music just really seems to work for me, so maybe it will for you too. It pushes me to go, keep going, and leave feeling better than I did when I first came in.

Rap music just doesn’t do it for me when I’m at the gym, but I also can’t listen to calm music if that makes sense. In other words, it has to pump me up.

So, the next time you hit the gym try listening to something a little different! For me, my go to is usually metalcore but if you aren’t much of a fan then regular rock will do the trick.

If you aren’t sure where to start, then you can browse the many premade playlists that are offered on both Spotify and Apple Music or you can always make one of your own too.
