Having classes everyday can be stressful, especially when your work begins to pile up. I, for one, know the feeling of being overwhelmed and not having time for anything. Despite this, I do try to maintain a balanced lifestyle with exercise a large part of that. RC offers some awesome group fitness classes and I’ve had the chance to try out the Yoga class led by Jodi.
When I first got to the class, everyone filed in quietly. We each chose mats and spaced ourselves out evenly on the floor in front of Jodi. Such a variety of students came, it was refreshing to see a diverse group. Jodi had some calming background music playing as we went through our poses. The environment of the room was calming. To end our session, we had a five minute meditation, which happened to be my favorite part. Having a designated moment to clear my mind and tell my body to relax was just what I needed after a long day of classes and working.
Yoga can be an extremely rewarding practice and Web MD even states that it can be just as healthy for your body as aerobic exercise, though yoga requires no aerobics. As students, so often we sit in class, sit for meals, sit while studying, and we rarely ever get the physical activity that our bodies need to maintain health. Group fitness is a great way to set aside time to be active. Yoga was my personal choice, but something else may suit you more. Take time this week to be active!
