Many students took advantage of the snow days by sledding down many of the college\u2019s steep hills, like the path to the Hawthorn Parking Lot. Other students were in their dorms with the heat cranked up, figuring out which restaurants they could DoorDash from. Even those from the North, who are used to the snowy conditions, were upset when Taco Bell made the tough decision to close Saturday night.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By the time this article is published, you can now DoorDash your heart\u2019s desire, and the pathways to your classes should be mostly clear. The City of Salem and Roanoke College Buildings and Grounds have worked hard over this last week to ensure that students can get to class safely. Make sure to give them your thanks if you see them around campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Roanoke Valley, some areas of higher elevation received more snow than \u201cSunny Salem\u201d. Botetourt and its surrounding towns received up to 5 inches or more of snowfall. In Roanoke City, there were high levels of ice and sleet, which made plowing the roads much harder for the crews working. However, this didn\u2019t stop Texas Tavern, a popular hotdog stand in the heart of downtown, from closing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roanoke opened back up for classes on Thursday, January 28, but the fun isn\u2019t over yet. The National Weather Service is expecting more snow this upcoming weekend, with chances as high as 70 percent. The snow is expected to start on Friday night and continue into Saturday evening according to many different weather services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With many eager to get back into their routine, this may come as upsetting news, especially considering the amount of snow and ice already on the ground.
