Settling back into a routine looks different for everyone at Roanoke. For some, it means
\nbeginning their final semester, while for others it means starting their very first or
\nstepping into a new role on campus. With Family Weekend just around the corner,
\nMaroons are embracing a blend of new routines and familiar traditions.
\nIn response to If you were to add another required course to the curriculum, what
\nsubject would you choose?\u201d<\/p>\n
Jasmine McFadden \u201925 said, \u201cI believe all students should take a sociology course,
\nmostly because we\u2019re all members of society and are impacted by system issues and
\ninstitutional beliefs and practices. Many people aren\u2019t aware of these influences or think
\nthey don\u2019t apply to them simply because they aren\u2019t directly affected. I think having a
\nrequired course in this subject would help us grow as a community and better
\nunderstand one another.\u201d<\/p>\n
In response to \u201cAre you excited for Family Weekend? What are your plans?\u201d<\/p>\n
Grayson Boone \u201827 said, \u201cI am excited about Family Weekend. I am thinking of invited
\nmy mother to Salem for lunch on Saturday, that should be a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
In response to \u201cHow are you settling into the routine of a new college and
\nenvironment?\u201d<\/p>\n
Alayna Graves, Director for LGBTQ+ Support and Success, said, \u201cEveryone has been so
\nnice to me and incredibly welcoming. Students, faculty, and staff have been excited
\nabout having my position here at Roanoke, especially now that it\u2019s finally filled. Overall,
\nI am thankful for the warm reception I\u2019ve received, and it feels rewarding, as a gay
\nperson, to take on such a role and have it be so well received. This is truly meaningful
\nto me and to other students, to be able to serve as a support system for LGBTQ+
\nstudents.\u201d<\/p>\n
