from Belgium. Janice is a Maroon Ambassador with the admissions office, is the Social media Assistant for the Public Affairs Department, did club cheer last year, and has been a new student mentor these past two years for ROA. “I love really good experiences like being an ROA mentor and an ambassador and learning how to market the campus to potential people. I feel like I’ve done better at learning different ways to communicate with different people because I normally have to communicate with parents, high schoolers, and sometimes even middle schoolers. Then you have to communicate with people who are from different sports and different locations, so I feel like I’ve learned a lot on how to change my communication style based on who I’m talking with.”

“In ROA 101, it’s sometimes hard to get incoming freshmen to engage, especially since a lot of them did not like ROA 101, they didn’t think it was useful, or it was just really low on the priority list. So they just didn’t put in as much effort into it as they potentially did with other classes. There’s different ways to entice people to do what we wanted them to do and navigating that was probably the biggest struggle.”

“Balancing life here and life in Belgium hasn’t been too difficult for me because I’m busy and doing my own thing here. During Christmas time and during the summer, I spend a week or two there with my aunt. My mom’s side of the family lives there and my dad works in Germany. I try to call them at least once a month and then I see them roughly twice a year.”

“I love watching TV, like right now I’m binge watching the Blacklist. I like hobbies you can do while watching TV, so I like painting and coloring because you can do those while binge watching.”

“I don’t know if I ever had a dream job, but I always joke that I go from one idea to the next. When I graduated high school, I was like, I’m going to become a wedding planner. I like planning and organizing events, so I started a wedding planning course to get a certification, and never finished it. I started college, and I still don’t know what I want to do either. I’ve learned a lot from road trips and the research you can do to plan fun activities. I’m not huge into visiting museums, I’m more into activities that are low on the tourist list, and so it’s kind of fun to see what other cities have to offer.”

“I really like spring. I like how one day you wear winter clothes and the next day it’s summer clothes. It’s great when the weather can’t make up its mind per day, though not necessarily change on the day.”

“Right now I’m applying to random jobs, but I’m mostly focusing on social media marketing, like content creation, and I’m looking into studying for the LSAT to potentially go to law school in a few years. I have so many different interests that are very different from each other, and law school has been in the back of my mind for a year or two now. So while I don’t have it figured out yet, I’m gonna look for a job and study for the LSAT and then, depending on what my score is, I’ll see if I want to go, or if I feel like going in a different direction.”

<span style="font-weight: enough, all of the admissions counselors – I’ve worked at admissions since freshman year, my dad – of course, he pretty much funds me as a whole as well, and the friendships I’ve
