\u00a0\u00a0Jayde Mooney is a senior from Clintwood, Virginia, with a history major and a public history concentration.\u00a0 She works as the Head RA for Southside, having lived and RA\u2019d for Crawford for the majority of her years here and now resides in Bartlett.\u00a0 \u201cI was the RA of Crawford second floor for a year and a half.\u00a0 You know, you learn a lot and see a lot when you live in Crawford.\u00a0 I think working with freshmen is so fun because they’re just so spirited all the time.\u00a0 It’s great because when I’m burnt out, I see how excited they are and I’m like, I should be as excited as they are.\u00a0 So that’s one of my favorite parts of the job.\u201d\u00a0 Jayde is also the treasurer of the Film Club.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The email sent by the college not long ago announcing renovations to Crawford begged to be addressed in the conversation.\u00a0 \u201cI’m really excited for that, because as someone who lived there for a large part of my college career, it was my first dorm ever, it’s been needing renovations.\u00a0 So I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks like.\u00a0 And I know I won’t be here next year, but I’m gonna need the RAs to send me pictures.\u00a0 I want to see full showers, that\u2019s the thing that I’m most excited about for people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cMy third favorite scent is the campfire.\u00a0 Oh, and a hobby I have is watching Antiques Roadshow before I go to bed, it\u2019s like my version of ASMR.\u00a0 Also my friends and I have been hanging out and coloring lately.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cAnother thing I love about being an RA is how the longer I\u2019ve been on staff, the more I\u2019ve learned how to balance living in the place I work.\u00a0 I\u2019ve found it important to set boundaries like do not come get me after 10 pm, because that\u2019s my time to watch my shows.\u00a0 I\u2019ve only ever worked with freshmen and being there for them when they don\u2019t have anybody else has been really rewarding.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to me to be someone they trust and build a community where people feel safe and welcome.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m still figuring out my plan for after graduation, but I know I\u2019ll follow my heart and do what I want to do.\u00a0 Right now, I\u2019m seeing where\u2019s hiring, where I\u2019ll get first-year experience, and where I can move just for fun.\u00a0 In this homestretch I\u2019ve kept reminding myself to take things slow and remember that I can do literally whatever I can in this time of my life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
