It has been a bit since we had a school break and since we are in that period right after the holidays- when most of us spend a lot of time with family and friends- where things might feel lonely. Homesickness goes around in times like this, and for some of us, it isn\u2019t easy to just head home whenever you decide you need a break.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to care for your mental health as much as for your physical health, and I will never get tired of saying how many resources this school has specifically to care for that health. You always have the chance to make an appointment with counseling services. But you may be tired of hearing me repeat this over and over again, so let me give you some other advice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have a self-care day! Homework seems never-ending but at least a couple of hours in which you take a nice walk, have a nap, or eat a fulfilling meal while watching your favorite show can make you feel like everything will actually be okay.<\/span><\/p>\n

Communicate with your friends and family, and arrange a video call to check in. Maybe see those little pets we had to leave back home; they get cuter every day! It\u2019s always nice to hear about what others are up to in their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

You can also always take yourself out on a date! With Valentine\u2019s Day rolling up, if you don\u2019t have someone to spend it with it might feel like an annoying holiday, but why not try to have a day out? Even without a car, you can get to many local businesses on foot. You could read a romance story in the public library or have a gluten-free dessert from Corbin\u2019s right next to it!<\/span><\/p>\n

Whatever you decide to do, remember you are part of this community, and even if you think nobody cares about you, I can assure you one person does. At least I do.<\/span><\/p>\n
