This article is meant to serve as a timeline for all the things that have happened in
\nthe past few months since we last published leading up to the 2024 Presidential Election.
\nThe Brackety-Ack will be doing opinion and news election coverage leading up to (and
\npotentially after) the election. On the back cover of the Brackety-Ack, there will be
\ninformation on how to register to vote (absentee or otherwise). I highly recommend
\neveryone (who is able to) to register to vote. It is not only our privilege as citizens of the
\nUnited States, but our duty.
\nMay: The most important news of note for this month was on May 30th when
\nDonald Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts in his New York Trial. This makes him the
\nfirst ever President to be convicted of a felony.
\nJune: The main event of June was the first campaign debate between current
\nPresident Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Biden\u2019s performance in this
\ndebate sparked calls for him to end his reelection campaign.
\nJuly: On the first day of July, the United States Supreme Court delivered a 6-3
\ndecision along ideological lines in Trump v. United States. This ruling stated that Trump
\nhad absolute immunity for acts he committed during his presidency. On July 13th, Trump
\nwas shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The next day the 2024
\nRepublican National convention began where Trump was officially confirmed as the
\nRepublican presidential nominee and he announced JD Vance as his running mate. On
\nJuly 21st, President Biden announced his withdrawal from the race. On the same day,
\ncurrent Vice President Kamala Harris announced her campaign for election.
\nAugust: On August 5th, Kamala Harris was confirmed as the Democratic
\nPresidential Nominee. The next day Harris announced Tim Walz as her running mate.
