The theme is focused on the relationship between the past and the future and how our actions in the present can influence the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cummings is an AI ethicist from the University of Virginia, where she is a professor on the ethics of modern technology. Cummings contributes to the AI Equity Lab at the Brookings Institute and a senior fellow at All Tech is Human.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cummings specifically looks at how modern technology including AI, interacts with social and power structures in American society.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conference continues the next day with seminars surrounding modernity and the implications on race.
