Happy Valentine\u2019s Day everyone! While this holiday is more than likely a marketing stunt, it is still an exciting holiday to celebrate with your loved ones. Get them those flowers, get them together to celebrate each other, and potentially watch some movies to really bring some love (or make you hate the holiday a little bit more\u2026to each their own LOL). With that, here are the top three movies that would put you in the lovey spirit this Valentines Day!<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting off strong, \u201c10 Things I Hate About You\u201d directed by Gil Jugner in 1999. This quirky Rom-Com follows the life of the Stratford sisters as they navigate high school. Bianca is pretty and popular but her father who is strict won\u2019t allow her to date anyone until her older sister does. The catch? Kat does not put effort into any guy and actively tries (and succeeds) to alienate herself. Bianca\u2019s soon to be boyfriend bribes Patrick-a fellow outsider- to ask Kat out, hoping the mysterious composition would draw Kat in. This movie is a movie everyone should watch at least ONCE in their life for the quick-witted humor mixed with a myriad of iconic moments (Heath Ledger\u2019s character, Patrick, singing \u201cCan\u2019t Take My Eyes Off You\u201d by Frankie Valli on the soccer field for Kat\u2026ICONIC!) truly make this movie a must watch.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next movie is another classic called \u201cThe Princess Bride\u201d directed by Rob Reiner (based on the book of the same name by William Goldman-who is the screen player of this movie) in 1987. This hour and a half fantasy comedy delicacy will transport viewers into a world of magic and wonder. This story is a frame story where a sick boy\u2019s grandfather reads him the story of a farm boy who becomes a swashbuckling pirate who encounters a myriad of obstacles, enemies, and friends alike to be reunited with the love of his life, Buttercup. This movie also has many iconic moments (\u201cHello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!\u201d is a quote fans hold close to their hearts ever since the movie was released) and the light-heartedness of childhood fantasy to truly make you appreciate your loved ones a bit more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While this movie can be classified as quite sad, \u201cLa La Land\u201d directed by Damien Chazelle in 2016 is for those who hate Valentine\u2019s Day but want to see a cinematography masterpiece about love, heartbreak, and all sorts. This movie IS a musical, so keep that in mind. Regardless of that, the cinematography, the color theory, and how Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have indescribably chemistry throughout the entire film makes the experience much more emotional. This film has been nominated for sixteen Academy Awards but only won six. The music mixed with the portrayal of life lessons throughout has a realistically beautiful storyline anyone would enjoy watching.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are a multitude of Rom-Coms that could be added to this list, but these three are a MUST to watch on Valentine’s day as to get a taste of love but also a taste of love that could be lost if not treated with care.
