But after all those savory main courses and heaps of delicious sides, we crave some sweetness for our pallets, and what could be more classic and comforting than a home-made apple pie? Today I have for you an easy apple pie recipe that you can bring to Thanksgiving dinner (and dessert).

The specific recipe used here is adapted from a recipe by Arletta on the website “Allrecipes”

The ingredients you are going to need are:

* 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie crusts (these can be bought instead of homemade to make the recipe quicker)

* 7 cups of sliced apples.

* 1 cup of sugar. (Though I recommend combining 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of white sugar.)

* 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour.

* 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon.

*1/4 teaspoon salt.

* 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg.

* 2 tablespoons butter.

Start by preheating the oven to 425 degrees F. (220 degrees C.) While the oven preheats, line a 9-inch pie plate with one of the premade crusts on the bottom.

In a bowl, mix the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg until well combined. Then place the mixture into the pie crust, dot with butter, and cover the top with our second crust making sure to seal the edges.

Next, cut some holes in the top to allow venting (if you wish to get creative with these steps you could even cut little apple designs!) and place it in the oven for ten minutes. Make sure to set a timer!

After ten minutes of baking, reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees F. (150 degrees C.) and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender. Let it cool and enjoy!

This recipe serves eight people and it’s a great way to contribute to a dinner! Or to eat at home, just place a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top, sit back and think about what you are grateful for this year.
