Well howdy y\u2019all kind folk, it\u2019s October 20 1874, and there
\nhas been a murder Out here in the Olde West! Mitch Maverick
\nwas shot dead late last night at the Deadwood Saloon, which
\nis such a shame, \u2018cuz he just won a bunch of money in a poker
\ntournament. And my oh my, how quickly everyone turned
\non eachother, with gentleman accusing gentleman and even
\nladies accusing other ladies. Folks, it was a mighty disaster!
\nLucky for y\u2019all, none of it was real. Why, it was simply
\njust a game, darlin\u2019, hosted by Roanoke College\u2019s own Historical
\nSociety. A similar Murder Mystery party was held by the
\norganization last year.<\/p>\n
The actual date was October 29, 2023, and the actual
\nsetting was the Bank building. Participants got to dress up in
\nwhatever costume they wanted, and talk in whatever accent
\nthey wanted, from 6:30-8:30, which is quite a nice change
\nof pace as opposed to the dreaded tests and projects of the
\nweek prior. There was food, laughs, good company, prop guns,
\nyou name it, they had it. Each of the participants was given
\na character sheet as a guide before the game began. This
\ncharacter was who we were supposed to embody, and who
\nwould hopefully solve the mystery of \u201cwhodunit\u201d.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of the game, everyone was also given
\na sheet with a list of objectives to complete as a way to meet
\nother characters. Then, as we were all settling into each other\u2019s
\ncompany, BAM! Mr. Maverick was shot dead just as he was
\nabout to win the award for the poker tournament, kicking off
\nthe second half of the night. After that, participants were all
\ngiven a new sheet of objectives, this time not to help us get to
\nknow each other, but to hopefully help us sort out the murder
\nand bring Mr. Maverick\u2019s killer to justice.<\/p>\n
By the end of the night, one person was able to solve
\nthe mystery of who the killer was! The answer was shocking,
\nand other secrets were revealed along with it. All and all, it was
\nquite a fine evening filled with lots of excitement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
