The Roanoke College field hockey team has been on a shutout winning streak during their past four games. The Maroons beat Wittenberg College earlier this month 1-0 with the lone goal by senior Martha Hurley. When the team played Southern Virginia the Maroons won 5-0 with 2 goals by senior Martha Hurley and sophomore Grace Vernarelli. Freshman Josephine van Leyen scored the final goal of the game. For the season home opener the Maroons beat Hood College in another shutout of 3-0, with goals from sophomore Tess Taloumis, junior Saige Bullock, and sophomore Grace Vernarelli. On Wednesday the Maroons kept up their shutout streak with a 8-0 win against Meredith College. Goals were scored by freshman Katherine Seal, senior Martha Hurley, sophomore Clare McCurley, junior Saige Bullock, freshman Brooke Smith, and freshman Carsyn Poppa. Junior midfielder Hope Keller had two goals. The Maroons now have a 4-2 record and are 3-2 when on the road.
