{"id":6013,"date":"2021-04-09T13:00:20","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T18:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=6013"},"modified":"2021-04-09T13:00:20","modified_gmt":"2021-04-09T18:00:20","slug":"rcs-fifth-annual-basically-tarantino-film-fest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=6013","title":{"rendered":"RC\u2019s Fifth Annual Basically Tarantino Film Fest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Written by Jasey Roberts<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year, Roanoke College\u2019s English\/Comm Department and Student Activities puts on a film contest called \u201cBasically Tarantino,\u201d where developing filmmakers can compete for a multitude of cash prizes, including but not limited to: Judge\u2019s Choice for Best Dramatic and Comedic Picture, Audience Choice for Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Director.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The competition has been around for over five years now, starting with a few enterprising students who wanted to produce films and only growing in participation over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each year comes with a new set of guidelines\u2014this year, every film must include a face shield, an avocado and the line \u201cYou had my curiosity, now you have my attention.\u201d The word \u201cmask\u201d must also make an appearance somewhere in the film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All entries must be 5-12 minutes in length, and the deadline to sign up at the info desk is April 15. All films will be due May 3. A premiere for judging will take place three days later on May 6, either in the Colket Ballroom or virtually.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shortly afterwards\u2014the week of May 10\u2013there will be a second and final screening and award ceremony for all of the films at the Grandin Theatre.
