Despite their upcoming match against Hollins being canceled, the women\u2019s soccer team has been continuing their legacy of success this season. After making it to the quarterfinals of the ODAC playoffs in 2019, these Maroons have been off to a hot start this season. Despite losing their first game to Radford, the women\u2019s team has gone on to win 3 of their last 4, with their only recent loss being a one-goal game. The team has proved to be an offensive threat thus far, led by forward MC Petrucelli and defense Eliza Ryan who lead the team with 5 goals and 3 goals, respectively, so far this season. On the back end, the team is led by starting goalkeeper Carrington Lippi. Lippi\u2019s performances in her four starts have launched her into the top 10 goalkeepers in all of the ODAC\u2019s goalkeeping statistics categories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Off the field, these women have shown that their talents aren\u2019t limited just to their sport, they are wildly talented in the classroom, too. The women\u2019s soccer team had 2 players make the President\u2019s List and 10 players make the Dean\u2019s list, among the most of any team at Roanoke. This builds on the team\u2019s longtime legacy of academic success. The women\u2019s soccer team have been proud owners of the United Coaches Academic Team Award for the past seven seasons. This award goes to teams in the NCAA, NAIA, and NCCAA who achieve an average team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. While balancing demanding coursework, new regulations due to COVID-19, and new guidelines for practices on top of the regular competition throughout their season, this is an incredible accomplishment. Congratulations to Bryn Haden and Megan Onofrei for making the President\u2019s List with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall. Congratulations to Abigail Burke, Mia Clary, Erin Flamm, Taylor Gallik, Carrington Lippi, Tessa McMillan, Eliza Ryan, Ellie Schad, Lexi Schult, and Logan Tyler for making the Dean\u2019s List with a GPA of 3.5 or higher with all A\u2019s and B\u2019s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With their upcoming game against local rival Hollins being cancelled, the Maroons are now zeroing in on their upcoming match against reigning ODAC champions Randolph-Macon. With their success both on and off the field this season, women\u2019s soccer will be the team to watch as they march towards the ODAC playoffs once again.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
