{"id":5685,"date":"2020-11-06T09:00:55","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T14:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=5685"},"modified":"2020-11-07T19:32:09","modified_gmt":"2020-11-08T00:32:09","slug":"rc-breaks-silence-on-title-ix-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=5685","title":{"rendered":"RC Breaks Silence on Title IX Investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Written by Kaelyn Spickler<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In recent weeks, students grew impatient on receiving an update from Roanoke College regarding the investigation of the Title IX case and regarding issues which prompted RC to send a quick update earlier this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Instagram account that started it all, anonymous4500054, posted 16 \u201cI am waiting\u201d posts since October 9, and once October came to a close, students\u2019 frustration grew in anticipation of what the outcome would be. Students drew attention to the account by tagging Roanoke College on the post and sharing it on their personal accounts, and on Wednesday, November 4, the RC community received an update.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe investigation by the independent third-party investigator, Karen Michael, Esq., has concluded and the final investigative report was submitted last week,\u201d President Maxey said in an email. \u201cThe investigator interviewed approximately 80 witnesses and the resulting report is substantial in length.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because of the magnitude of the investigation, the next step is review. There is a substantial amount of witnesses and information that need to be carefully examined before RC can share more. Until then, the information is protected for legal and privacy reasons for all parties involved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe report has been shared with the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman of the Board,\u201d continued President Maxey. \u201cWe are now carefully reviewing the detailed findings.
