For this issue of the Brackety-Ack we decided to interview a student who made the Covid conscious decision to take his semester online. That student is the Class of 2021 Senior, Dylan Sheck. Sheck, a history major, is currently holed up in Cornelius, North Carolina just outside of Charlotte. He has been carefully quarantined with his circle, but Plans to return to Roanoke College for Spring Semester. He was honest and frank about the way that online schooling has affected his final lap of his undergraduate education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheck said, \u201cBeing online has created a great deal of anxiety. In addition it\u2019s difficult that instruction has one more step of distance between professor and student.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheck is involved in Greek life at Roanoke College. He rushed Pi Lamda Phi his sophomore year. Since joining Pi Lamda Phi, Dylan has served as the Philanthropy Chair and the Vice President. Sheck wants to shout out Pi Lambda Phi and congratulate the brothers on the way they\u2019ve handled this semester.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheck is also a member of Hillel, a Jewish students group on campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked what stood out to him about Roanoke academically he had to say. \u201cMy favorite class that I have taken was \u201cthe Capetians\u201d with Dr. Scaer.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheck wants to shout out Dr. Scaer for being an excellent educator. Scaer recently became Pi Lamda Phi\u2019s academic advisor, and Sheck wants to shout him out. Sheck also commends the professors of Roanoke College for the amount of effort they put into educating their students in these trying times. Roanoke isn\u2019t the same without you Dylan and the Brackety-Ack is excited for you to re-join the community next spring!<\/span><\/p>\n
