The paranormal TV drama \u201cSupernatural\u201d is coming to an end this November, after a record 15 seasons on the air.<\/span><\/p>\n

The series finale was originally set to premiere back in May. However, the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic shut down production on films and TV shows across the country, including \u201cSupernatural,\u201d which only had two episodes left to film in the entire series. Co-showrunner Robert Singer confessed that the delay was more stressful than it would have been on any other season of \u201cSupernatural,\u201d since they had to stop so close to the end (Entertainment Weekly). For lead stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, the five-month-long break was the longest they had been away from their characters, Sam and Dean Winchester, since the show began.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the complications, the stars of \u201cSupernatural\u201d noted a positive element to the delay. \u201cI feel like this almost gives us an opportunity to refocus and go into the last two episodes and hit them with everything we got,\u201d Ackles said in April (Entertainment Weekly). Co-star Misha Collins voiced a similar sentiment. \u201cOne possible unintended benefit of it is that it will draw out the end of the show and we\u2019ll be able to savor the end for a little bit longer,\u201d he said (Entertainment Weekly).<\/span><\/p>\n

In August, filming of \u201cSupernatural\u201d was finally able to resume with appropriate safety measures in place. Because of the new COVID-19 restrictions, some adjustments had to be made to the final scripts. \u201cFor example, for the finale, we had a big, super extravagant thing planned for that episode, and it wasn\u2019t feasible,\u201d said co-showrunner Andrew Dabb. \u201cBut we found an alternative to get to the same place, plot-wise and, more importantly, emotionally, that worked great\u201d (TVLine).<\/span><\/p>\n

The last seven episodes of \u201cSupernatural\u201d began to air on Oct. 8 on the CW. Without revealing too much, the cast and showrunners have hinted at an epic and emotional wrap-up to the series. Dabb has also made it clear that this will be a \u201ctrue ending,\u201d without any of the loopholes that have become characteristic of the show. \u201cThis is the end of these characters\u2019 journey,\u201d he said (Syfy Wire).<\/span><\/p>\n

The final episode of \u201cSupernatural\u201d will premiere on Nov. 19, preceded by an hour-long reflective special called \u201cSupernatural: The Long Road Home.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
