I feel like that has been said on repeat here in the Brackety-Ack from articles written by me, but it is what it is. That being said, not having a new season of The Bachelorette to look forward to this summer definitely put a damper on my Monday nights, but ABC revived them by airing The Bachelor’s Greatest of All Time. Every Monday, they aired a different season voted to be one of Bachelor Nation’s favorites, and by rewatching these in a condensed fashion, I realized some things I didn’t the first go ‘round, and lucky for you, I will be sharing these discoveries right here throughout the semester!

We’ve heard the saying, “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back it’s yours. If it doesn’t, then it wasn’t meant to be.” During Jason Mesnick’s season, he was torn between his final two women, Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft, who were very different from one another. Not to spoil the ending, but Jason ended up proposing to Rycroft after a very dramatic goodbye to Molly where she tells him she thinks he is making the wrong decision, yet he set her free.

And, guess what? She came back! No, it wasn’t one of The Bachelor’s smoothest endings, but Jason realized those feelings for Molly never went away, so ultimately he ended things with Melissa, and Molly came back to him. Molly didn’t lose hope, nor did she lose her feelings for Jason because after all, she did tell him he was making a mistake. Now, they have been married for 10 years and have a little family of their own.

In real-world, outside of The Bachelor scenarios, sometimes we have to let things go. This doesn’t just apply to someone torn between two people (because how often does that happen in the real world), but it might apply to letting your high school sweetheart go if distance gets too hard, or letting your S.O. figure out life on their own for a little bit post-graduation. Letting go may cause us to dramatically breakdown on the balcony like it did for Jason, but it is comforting to know that if we have enough confidence in the relationship to let it go and it comes back, it was meant to be, and if not, then there’s something even more perfect for us waiting.

Timing is everything, and sometimes people need space to figure things out for themselves, but distance or space can make the heart grow fonder and could lead to that person coming back.

Written by Kaelyn Spickler To say the least, I’m a big Bachelor franchise fan.
