While we are all focusing on our academics outside of the school setting, it is important to remember small ways we can keep our spirits up. It has been said that music can heal and it is what makes life worth living. Music can affect mood and can be used to set your mood no matter what situation you are in. From having your workout playlist to your <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lets party<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> jams, we all have different playlists for different situations. So here is why you should make two new ones for your time at home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pdfs.semanticscholar.org\/5f19\/ff724abad227675ce63c9b6c152d399aecbf.pdf?_ga=2.21562559.50002924.1585099475-43029137.1585099475\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2010, psychologists Jaden Ganser and Fareen Huda conducted a study with 97 undergraduate students to learn the effects music has on moods.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> After exposing different groups to different types of music they concluded that upbeat and pro-social lyrical songs resulted in an increase in positive moods of participants. The opposite happened when exposed to annoying anti-social lyrical songs, participants became less happy and less likely to become active.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order for students to become productive in a place where there can be many distractions, putting some headphones on and playing some of these upbeat songs can be helpful. The same can be said for when it comes time to relax. So, open up Spotify, Apple Music, whatever you use and make yourself some motivating playlists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To get you started, I have created two mini-playlists: Motivation Station and Just Breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Good Luck Roanoke!
