As a kid, St. Patrick\u2019s Day was one of my favorite holidays. I picked out my green outfit days in advance and drank Shamrock Shakes all month long. Now, I\u2019m old and boring. So I decided to ask my 7-year-old and 10-year-old nieces, Cay and Lexi, what they think about the holiday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Brackety-Ack:<\/b> Why do people celebrate St. Patrick\u2019s Day?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> It\u2019s just a fun holiday to celebrate and I think it\u2019s because it brings you luck and stuff. Like, people use it as a day to bring you luck.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> How do you feel about Leprechauns?<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> They\u2019re fake.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> Yeah, they\u2019re fake.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> Are you sure?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> Yeah, I\u2019ve never actually met one. Our teachers just set it up.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> Why do people wear green on St. Patrick\u2019s Day?<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> So you don\u2019t get pinched.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> So you don\u2019t get pinched and you just wear green for clovers and stuff. So you can have good luck.<\/span><\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> What do you eat on St. Patrick\u2019s Day?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> Don\u2019t we have, like, beef or something like that?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> Corned beef and cabbage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> I love corned beef<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> Yeah, I love corned beef.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> And corn.<\/span><\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> Are Lucky Charms a St. Patrick\u2019s Day food?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> I would count it as one.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> And also our mommy puts green food coloring in our milk.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> Have you ever found a four-leaf-clover?<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> Yes, I have and I gave one to Cay and I had one for me. My teacher last year found one and gave it to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> I tried finding one but I never do.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> I think the luck ran out or maybe it died though because I kept it in a bag when I found it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> Maybe if you get a four-leaf-clover and leave it somewhere, maybe a leprechaun could get it.<\/span><\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> I thought you said leprechauns were fake?<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> Maybe they\u2019re real.<\/span><\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> How will you celebrate the holiday?<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> I don\u2019t know.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lexi:<\/b> I\u2019ll wear all green so I don\u2019t get pinched. I will maybe start up some mischief. Even though it\u2019s not April Fools Day, I\u2019m just going to start up so mischief and prank some people.<\/span><\/p>\n

BA:<\/b> How do you think adults celebrate the holiday?<\/span><\/p>\n

Cay:<\/b> I don\u2019t know.<\/span><\/p>\n
