We have reached that point in the year where everyone realizes we are <\/span>really<\/span><\/i> back to school. Tests and papers are starting to be assigned, and quizzes have already popped up and been studied for (or not studied for). You and your friends have developed a routine, and maybe you\u2019re even starting to get tired of it. This point in the year is when it hits that we aren\u2019t just at a two week long summer camp, but here for three and a half months.<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with that realization may come missing home and family and friends who are back home. It\u2019s something everyone goes through — not just freshmen. Freshmen are the ones who RA\u2019s are told to watch and make sure they aren\u2019t getting homesick, but no one really thinks about upperclassmen getting homesick, but they are away from home just like freshmen are.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s normal to feel homesick no matter how long you\u2019ve been here, and it hits everybody at different points. Some freshmen may not experience being homesick right away, but eventually it\u2019ll hit second semester or even junior year. Meanwhile, some other freshmen may already be homesick, alongside some seniors who are feeling the same way. It\u2019s just apart of being away from loved ones, and it\u2019s important to remember that we are all in the same boat.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are at the point now where Family Weekend is right around the corner, so that\u2019s an opportunity to see your family if they are close by. If not, maybe you can find comfort in seeing your friend\u2019s family as they will bring a homey feeling. A few short weeks after that is Fall Break, so you only have to make it another month, and hopefully you will see your loved ones and enjoy the feeling of home soon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of us have been there on that boat, and some of us are currently in it. Be sure to seek out the excellent resources our campus provides if you need to. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
