{"id":4556,"date":"2019-09-06T12:00:16","date_gmt":"2019-09-06T16:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.pages.roanoke.edu\/?p=4556"},"modified":"2019-09-06T12:00:16","modified_gmt":"2019-09-06T16:00:16","slug":"in-review-summers-biggest-blockbusters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=4556","title":{"rendered":"In Review: Summer\u2019s Biggest Blockbusters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Written by Charissa Roberson<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Summer 2019 was a great one for the movies.\u00a0 The following is a recap of some of the biggest films to hit the big screen over break:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First up, the superhero event that shattered box office records and managed incredibly to live up to its hype\u2014<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avengers: Endgame<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 Technically, the movie came out in April, but <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Endgame<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was so popular that it remained in theaters well into the summer.\u00a0 In May, the Disney remake <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aladdin <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">swept theaters, scoring mixed reviews, but an overall positive reception (after all, the original classic is tough to beat).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, Pixar struck with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toy Story 4<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> debunking the age-old adage that sequels are never better than their predecessors.\u00a0 Colorful characters, lovely animation, and a charming storyline made the toys\u2019 fourth on-screen appearance one to remember.\u00a0 Not to be out-done, the newest Spider-Man swung in at the start of July. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Far From Home<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> served up a delightful mix of web-slinging action, hilarious comedy, and sweet romance \u2013 the perfect summer blockbuster. The long-awaited <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lion King<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> remake arrived next.\u00a0 Jon Favreau (Spider-Man\u2019s very own Happy Hogan) brought the animated original to life with dedication and stunning visuals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you didn\u2019t catch these movies in theaters, don\u2019t worry!
