{"id":4392,"date":"2019-04-05T18:00:02","date_gmt":"2019-04-05T22:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.pages.roanoke.edu\/?p=4392"},"modified":"2019-04-05T18:00:02","modified_gmt":"2019-04-05T22:00:02","slug":"meta-musical-hits-the-olin-stage-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=4392","title":{"rendered":"Meta-Musical Hits the Olin Stage Next Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Written by Charissa Roberson<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With the advent of spring comes the premier of Theatre RC\u2019s latest production: \u201c[title of show],\u201d a comedy-musical written by Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell\u2014about themselves, trying to a write a musical.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s very meta-theatrical,\u201d said freshman Claire McDonald, who is the assistant director for the show. \u201cThe first time that I read through it, it got a little into my brain.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c[title of show]\u201d follows characters Jeff (Ryan Bennet) and Hunter (Kojiro Leonard), known as \u201ctwo nobodies in New York,\u201d and their friends Heidi (Bella Moritz) and Susan (Hayley Ramsey), along with keyboardist Larry (Eric Lee). Together, these aspiring artists struggle to create a musical before the submission deadline of a new musical theatre festival. Along the way, the friends make important discoveries about each other and grow closer as a group, reflecting the relationships that the actors have developed in real life. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey are all doing such a fabulous job,\u201d McDonald said. \u201cAt the very beginning, there are four people who don\u2019t really know each other that much, and as the characters grow to know each other, they have also grown to each other more and more.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c[title of show]\u201d opens on April 10 and will run until April 13 in Olin Theatre.
