{"id":3843,"date":"2018-09-21T08:00:08","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T12:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.pages.roanoke.edu\/?p=3843"},"modified":"2018-09-21T08:00:08","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T12:00:08","slug":"watercolor-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=3843","title":{"rendered":"Virginia Watercolor Society Brightens Up Olin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Written by Jordan Hanson<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From Sept. 9 through Oct. 7, 2018, Roanoke College is hosting the Virginia Watercolor Society\u2019s 39th Annual Exhibition, every day from 1\u22124 p.m. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">98 watercolor paintings, chosen from over 400 submissions, fill the walls of both the Smoyer and Olin galleries. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe most amazing part of this year\u2019s exhibition is that there is so much variety in subject matter and style\u2026It is truly inspiring to see contemporary paintings from all over Virginia and how they come together in one cohesive exhibition,\u201d said Lacey Leonard, Assistant Director of Galleries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Virginia Watercolor Society, created in 1979, looks to foster interest in watercolor and hosts this exhibition and other events to promote the art. You don\u2019t have to take our word for it \u2212 come out to Olin in the next few weeks to see these amazing paintings for yourself.
