{"id":3841,"date":"2018-09-21T08:00:01","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T12:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.pages.roanoke.edu\/?p=3841"},"modified":"2018-09-21T08:00:01","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T12:00:01","slug":"emmys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brackety-ack.com\/?p=3841","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel\u201d lives up to its name, winning big at Emmys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Written by Charissa Roberson<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Sept. 17, 2018, the 70 annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles (Hollywood Reporter). \u201cThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel\u201d won the night with five Emmys in the comedy series category for Best Series, Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, writing and directing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Close behind, \u201cThe Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story\u201d won three Emmys for Best Limited Series, Lead Actor and directing, while \u201cGames of Thrones\u201d won Best Drama Series and Supporting Actor. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several other shows received honors in the drama category, including \u201cWestworld\u201d for Best Supporting Actress, \u201cThe Americans\u201d for Best Lead Actor and writing and \u201cThe Crown\u201d for Best Lead Actress and directing. HBO and Netflix ended the night in a tie with 23 Emmys each (LA Times). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The 2018 Emmy Awards were hosted by Michael Che and Colin Jost (CBS News). The ceremony opened with a musical number drawing attention to Hollywood\u2019s lack of diversity, and later a video showed Che handing out \u201cReparation Emmys\u201d to honor talented black performers who had never received Emmys for their roles.
