On average, young adults are having sex 127 times a year. Our generation has seemingly pioneered \u201chook-up culture\u201d, where sex is more common and casual. Many of us have lived and even grown up in this culture, so we are conditioned to believe it. People have these preconceived notions when you tell them you\u2019re still a virgin, but what\u2019s even worse are the asinine questions. Let\u2019s address it for once and all and debunk some of these \u201cmysteries\u201d for all inquirers.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you ever even think about sex?\u201d<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Yes, just as much as \u201cnormal people\u201d do. Just because I\u2019ve never done\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>the actual act, that definitely doesn\u2019t mean a girl can\u2019t dream.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, do you ever\u2026have urges?\u201d \u2013 OF COURSE I DO! And I handle them the old-fashioned way; a little self-love and some TLC.<\/p>\n \u201cYou must think I get around a lot!\u201d\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Not at all. As long as you\u2019re having fun and being safe in whatever you are (or are not) doing, then I look to the Isley Brothers\u2019 classic and say, \u201cit\u2019s your thing, do what you wanna do\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cShould we leave? We don\u2019t want you to get uncomfortable!\u201d<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 I\u2019ve definitely learned enough about reproduction, taken enough sex-ed classes and lived in the 21st century long enough to be unbothered by most kiss-and-tell stories, so spill the tea!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cSo, you\u2019ve never done anything?\u201d\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 Let\u2019s say this: I haven\u2019t been to the inner city of Pound Town, but I\u2019ve visited the suburbs a few times.<\/p>\n \u201cDo boys just intimidate you?\u201d\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 HECK NO! If I was intimidated by boys, I would never go out with, talk to or even look at them. But for me, just because I\u2019m interested doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019m always open for business.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, do you ever want to do it?\u201d<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Yes, obviously, but that\u2019s not the big end goal for me. Contrary to popular belief, I\u2019m not losing sleep waiting for someone to have sex with me, but I\u2019m also not a prude about it.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, why are you still a virgin?\u201d<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 While most people assume my apprehension comes from some religious upbringing or familial influence, believe it or not, I\u2019ve chosen to live my life and I\u2019m perfectly content. I respect people who think sex should be between two people who love each other, but I also respect those who think otherwise, but neither of those ideals concern me. I know I\u2019ll be ready when I\u2019m with someone who makes me comfortable, makes me feel like I can trust them and makes me feel like I didn\u2019t make a mistake.
